This harpsichord, converted into a piano by Jean Goermans in 1754, is a fine example of 18th-century craftsmanship. Its elegant Rococo design is evident in the black and gold painted surface, adorned with intricate floral motifs, and the red and gold painted lid decorated with a lively pastoral scene. The instrument's original purpose as a harpsichord is still visible in the shape of the case, which has been adapted to accommodate the piano's mechanism. The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City houses this remarkable instrument.
