This anonymous relief, created sometime between 1890-1895, depicts Cleopatra as the Egyptian goddess Isis. The work is a striking example of the enduring fascination with ancient Egypt that prevailed in Europe during the late 19th century. The image shows Cleopatra, in profile, wearing the traditional headdress of Isis, with a sun disk and cow horns. This portrayal, with the goddess's symbolic attributes, evokes a sense of divine power and regal authority. The work is currently housed in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
