This is Picasso’s “Still Life (The dessert),” painted with oils, and the date is unknown, so we might imagine the process of it. Looking at this painting, it feels like Picasso was really going for it, not being precious. I love how the textures come alive, especially in the flowers. The paint is applied in such a way that you can almost feel the thickness of the petals. It’s like he’s building up these little worlds, one brushstroke at a time. I'm drawn to the way the whites of the flowers bleed into that deep blue background, creating this shimmering effect. It’s not about getting it ‘right’, but about capturing a mood. You know, Cezanne comes to mind here, with that same interest in the geometry of the everyday and the materiality of paint. But where Cezanne is all about order, Picasso feels a bit more wild, a bit more free. Art is just an ongoing conversation, isn't it? No one has all the answers, and that's exactly why it's so interesting.
