SYNDROME IMBALANCE 2016

This work by Goran Despotovski, titled "Syndrome Imbalance," presents a stark, unsettling scene. Figures in formal attire, their heads wrapped in white fabric, gather around a table. One figure, however, defies gravity, levitating horizontally as if in a state of suspension. The bound heads evoke images of ancient burial rituals, perhaps a mummification or preparation for the afterlife. The suspension of the figure brings to mind religious iconography, consider the depiction of saints levitating during spiritual ecstasy. We find parallels in shamanistic traditions where the soul is believed to leave the body, transcending the earthly realm. This suspension may represent a profound disconnect. It touches upon our collective anxieties about societal pressures, conformity, and the individual's struggle to find balance amidst chaos.
