This etching, "Neptun farende over havet," by Hans Henrich Christian Ulrich depicts the Roman god Neptune riding a chariot drawn by seahorses across the sea. Above him, a winged figure of the goddess Amphitrite, Neptune's wife, soars through the clouds. The scene is depicted with detail, highlighting the rough sea below and the celestial clouds above. The artwork is a title page for a book on maritime evolution published in 1743. This piece demonstrates the classical influence on Danish art during the 18th century. It is currently part of the collection at SMK – Statens Museum for Kunst.
