Coat c. 19th century

This 19th-century, anonymous "Coat" is an example of traditional Indonesian ikat textiles. It is made of hand-woven silk with an elaborate, intricate pattern created using a resist dyeing technique. The indigo and white ikat motif is a distinctive feature of Indonesian textiles, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of the region. The "Coat" is on display at the Minneapolis Institute of Art.
