Pierre Alechinsky made this untitled artwork with ink and color in the mid-twentieth century. It's like peering into someone’s mind, isn’t it? I imagine him, hunkered over the page, letting his hand wander, the pen practically dancing. See how the ink pools and splatters? It feels like a controlled explosion, each blot and line a tiny burst of energy. I imagine him trying to wrestle with form but then giving way to abstraction and chance. What was he thinking? What was he feeling? Maybe a little lost, a little playful, definitely curious. The different vignettes are like windows into different worlds. A red-haired figure screams out from one panel, while doodles coalesce into strange creatures in another. I’m reminded of Miro’s playful iconography and the raw energy of the Cobra group. There's a conversation happening across decades. Like the best art, it’s an invitation to play, to question, and to find your own story within the chaos.
