"Building site of I. G. Farben" by Pauline Kowarzik (1852-?) depicts a nocturnal scene of an industrial construction site illuminated by electric lights. The artist uses a painterly style with washes of color and expressive brushstrokes to capture the dynamism of the scene, a striking contrast to the more traditional landscapes she is known for. The work is held in the Städel Museum.
