Siah Armajani built *Bridge over a Tree* with wood and metal, a marriage of engineering and nature’s unruly growth. Just imagine him out there, the sun on his back, wrestling with beams and angles, trying to figure out how to make something so human play nice with something so wild. You can see the hand of the artist in the thoughtful arrangement, each piece of wood deliberately placed. The bridge spans, not just space, but also our expectations of what architecture can be. It's not about shelter; it's about connection, a pathway over the unpredictable. I think of Robert Smithson, another artist who liked to get his hands dirty in the landscape. There is a similar desire to engage with nature on its terms. It makes me consider how our lives are shaped by the structures we build and the natural world we inhabit. This bridge invites us to walk a new path, to reconsider how we connect with the world around us.
