Alfred Freddy Krupa, born in 1971, created the artwork, 6x9 (Morning at the bridge) using photography. Krupa’s identity as a Croatian artist, born in the midst of sociopolitical change in the former Yugoslavia, deeply informs his artistic perspective. Here, the subdued tones and composition evoke a sense of both quietness and isolation. The bridge, a symbol of connection, is rendered here as a solitary path leading into a misty distance, inviting reflection on themes of transition and solitude. Krupa himself has spoken of his work as exploring the spaces between memory and lived experience. The photograph serves as a metaphor for the journeys we undertake, both literal and metaphorical, and the emotional landscapes we navigate along the way. It captures a moment of stillness, encouraging us to contemplate our own paths and the bridges we cross in our lives.
