This is an album made by G. Hidderley containing images of Volendam, Dordrecht, Gorinchem and Woudrichem. You know, looking at this album cover, I’m reminded that the process of seeing is as much about what's obscured as what's revealed. The cover presents this muted blue-grey that feels almost like a faded memory, inviting you to project your own stories onto it. Notice how the texture of the fabric creates a subtle grid? It's like a map, hinting at the many layers of history and personal narrative contained within. There's a quiet physicality to this object, a sense of weight and substance that speaks to the enduring power of photography to capture and preserve moments in time. The minimal aesthetic reminds me a little of Agnes Martin's subdued color palettes, or perhaps the quiet, contemplative surfaces of a Morandi still life. It's like a blank canvas waiting to be filled with the memories and associations it holds.
