Bearing of the Cross 

This pencil drawing titled "Bearing of the Cross" by Edme Bouchardon (1698-1762) depicts a dramatic scene from the Passion of Christ. The central figure of Jesus is seen carrying the heavy cross, while a tormentor forces him forward. The background features a crowd of figures, some looking on with sorrow, while others seem indifferent.
