Keith Haring made this untitled painting, full of life and movement, sometime between the late 70s and 1990. You can see how the energy of New York street culture pulses right through it. Look at the flat planes of color, like fields of emotion – that screaming red, or that cool pool of blue. It’s not about depth or perspective, but about a flat, bold statement. The black lines dance around the shapes, creating these figures that are more like hieroglyphs, alive with gesture and immediacy. I love the way the lines vary in thickness; they seem so off-the-cuff, as if they were almost doodled. It reminds me a little of Miró. He used simple shapes and bright colors in a similar way. But Haring’s got this urban, almost punk rock edge. It's like he took Miró’s language and threw it into the streets. Ultimately, Haring's work is about making art accessible, breaking down barriers, and celebrating the messy, vibrant energy of life.
