Editor: Here we have an untitled drawing by Reuben Townroe. It's a figure enclosed in an oval shape, rendered in what looks like watercolor and ink. It feels theatrical to me, almost operatic. What’s your take on it? Curator: Well, there's a raw energy to it, isn't there? The figure seems caught in a moment of intense emotion or perhaps storytelling. That sketchy quality—it almost feels like a fleeting thought captured on paper, like a reverie the artist had. Does it spark any particular narratives for you? Editor: It makes me wonder what story they’re trying to tell. It’s so ambiguous! Curator: Exactly! And isn’t that the charm? It invites us to co-create, to bring our own stories into the frame. I love how incomplete it feels – it’s an invitation. Editor: I see what you mean. It’s like the drawing is only half the equation, and we supply the rest. Curator: Precisely! It seems Townroe wanted us to be a part of this little theatre.
