This work, Omaggio a Braccelli (Justification Page), was made by Paolo Boni. Though undated, it reflects conceptual ideas that were central to the artist's work. The image presents handwritten notes, seemingly documenting stages of a printmaking process. Boni's choice to display these working notes challenges traditional notions of artistic production, which often emphasize the finished product over the process. Made in Italy, the work can be viewed in the context of the Arte Povera movement, which questioned the art institution and commercialization by using humble materials and focusing on process. Examining exhibition histories and Boni's writings would help contextualize this justification page within his broader artistic practice and the social critique embedded in his work. By doing so, we see how Boni, like other artists, used his art to comment on the structures of artistic production and value.
