Wanda Gág made this print of a philodendron, maybe in her studio or apartment? I can almost smell the ink and feel the press grinding. The plant's leaves reach and twist, each one with its own story etched in lines. You know, the way the light catches those serrated edges? It makes you wonder what Gág was thinking as she carved these details into the plate. Was she as fascinated by the plant's resilience as I am? I’m looking at this one stroke, right there, that defines the edge of a leaf—it’s so simple, so direct, yet it carries so much weight. Gág knew how to make every mark count! Her prints remind me of Kollwitz, but with a touch more domesticity. It’s like she's saying, "Even the everyday, even a houseplant, can be a source of endless inspiration." These artists keep showing us new ways to see, urging us to keep drawing, keep thinking, keep feeling.
