This is “Schemering” by Etienne Bosch, we don’t have a date for this one, but it was made using etching. What's interesting is how Bosch creates a world with such limited means. It's all about these tiny, teeming marks, like a swarm of bees deciding where to build their hive. The texture feels almost like a memory, hazy and indistinct, but deeply felt. Looking at the bottom right, you can see the artist's signature, scrawled into the plate before printing. It's a subtle reminder of the human hand behind this dreamlike image, adding another layer to the piece. I’m reminded of Odilon Redon, both artists had an interest in creating dreamlike interior worlds, often working in monochrome. There is an embrace of ambiguity here, an invitation to get lost in the image. It’s more about feeling than seeing, which is something I always look for in a work of art.
