This photograph, ‘Gezicht op slot Hohenschwangau met links de Alpsee en rechts de Schwansee’, was captured by an anonymous artist, and it really draws you into its world. I imagine the photographer carefully considering how to capture all that nature. To see the forest reach the lake and reflect all the sky and clouds… It’s as if the photographer is speaking to the sublime. I wonder if they were thinking about Romantic landscape painting? The quietness of the village is very compelling, but for me it’s the mountains that reach into the sky that steal the show. What does it mean to be anonymous? It’s a kind of freedom. Being free to create without expectations. But it’s also a kind of conversation with all other artists. I’m thinking about the relationship between them and me, now.
