EtchingRoom1 made this 'Untitled' artwork sometime after 2016, probably with ink on paper. It's a building and in each window there is a different scene. I feel the artist has made something out of nothing. Maybe they found some discarded paper and just started drawing on it. It's so free, with a strange black sun in the sky and a barely-there circle drawn with a shaky hand. The whole thing seems to be moving. I think of Saul Steinberg, of course, but also William Steig, who could turn a line into a whole universe. I imagine the artist thinking, "I'll make a whole world out of lines. I'll make a building, and in each window, a different story will unfold." Artists are always in conversation with each other, you know? It's a big, ongoing party, and we're all just trying to add something to the conversation. Anyway, this piece feels so intimate and personal, like a little peek into the artist's mind.
