This composition in green, red, and yellow by Serge Poliakoff is, like, a total jam session with colour, probably made in his studio in Paris. Imagine Poliakoff there, wrestling with those shapes, pushing them around until they fit just so. The painting's built from these chunky blocks of colour, right? And you can almost feel him layering them, one on top of the other, like he’s building a wall or something. I love how he lets the colours breathe and buzz against each other. That bold red shouts, while the green and yellow chill out a bit, letting it do its thing. It reminds me a bit of some of the Fauvist painters, like Matisse, but Poliakoff's doing his own thing, ya know? These artists are always riffing off each other, keeping the conversation going, even across time. Painting is a total trip, right?
