This is Alfred Freddy Krupa’s "Progenic Art: work No. 2," and it looks like it's made from wood, maybe with a tooth stuck to it. It seems like the wood itself is the medium here, right? You can see all the grain, the subtle shifts in tone from pale cream to light tan, and a few darker streaks that the artist has chosen to leave unadorned. Near the top, there’s this small, almost comical, tooth, glued right onto the surface! Then, down at the bottom, there’s a bold red stamp. This little red square adds an element of graphic punch. It makes me think about process and intentionality. Krupa isn't trying to hide the history of the material. Instead, the natural wood is there for us to see, with the little tooth stuck to the surface. There's something almost Dada-esque about the whole thing. Think about Kurt Schwitters and his collages, rescuing bits of everyday life and sticking them to the canvas. It’s like Krupa is saying that art is all around us, even in the simplest things.
