Sandu Darie created this geometric mobile as part of a series, though we don’t know when. What strikes me is the repetition and variation in the design. Imagine the artist in his studio, playing around with these geometric forms, shifting them, exploring their relationships. The simple palette of black and white amplifies the clean lines and shapes. Each piece seems carefully considered, carefully placed. It reminds me of some of the early abstract painters and sculptors, people like Mondrian or maybe Sophie Taeuber-Arp, who were also interested in exploring the fundamental principles of form and colour. There is a playful quality to these works, a sense of lightness and movement despite the static nature of the medium. You can almost see the hand of the artist in every decision, every angle. Artists are always in conversation with one another, building on what's come before, pushing in new directions. It's an endless dance of creativity, isn't it?
