This purple glass vase was made by Chris Lebeau, though we don’t know exactly when. What really grabs me is the colour, that deep purple hue. It's not just a surface thing; it feels like the color is embedded right into the glass, like it's part of the very material. It makes you wonder about the process, how you get glass to take on such a rich, vibrant shade. And look at the way the light plays on it. It’s so smooth and reflective, like a liquid that's been frozen in time. You can almost see the artist's breath, or the movement of the glassblower. It reminds me a little of some of the art nouveau glassmakers, like Gallé, but with a simpler, more modern twist. It's a reminder that art isn't just about what you see, it's about the conversations between artists across time. It makes you see the world in a new light, or maybe, in a new shade of purple.
