This ceramic tile, designed by Carel Adolph Lion Cachet around 1900-1905, is a striking example of Art Nouveau style. The tile, part of a fireplace from the Dentz van Schaick house, showcases intricate patterns and stylized forms typical of the period. The tile features a central motif of a stylized bird with outstretched wings, framed by a symmetrical design of elongated, curved lines and eye-like elements. The use of vibrant colors, particularly the contrasting black and white, adds to the tile's visual impact and exemplifies the decorative aesthetic prevalent in Art Nouveau. Currently housed in the Rijksmuseum, the tile offers a glimpse into the decorative arts of the early 20th century.
