Eyvind Earle made this ‘Enchanted Forest’ with what looks like thin layers of paint, kind of built up like a dreamy, dark fairytale. The process seems almost secretive, each layer adding depth to this imagined place. Look at the textures. Earle's really into smooth surfaces, right? The paint isn't shouting, it's whispering. It’s almost like he’s trying to make the paint disappear, but, in doing so, highlights the way light glows. The trees in the foreground – they’re not just trees. They’re lines, blue against dark, creating contrast. The lines create a sense of depth, drawing you into the darkness. This piece feels like a conversation with someone like Milton Avery, who gets how much emotion can be packed into simple shapes and colours. It's not about perfection. It’s about creating a feeling and about embracing the mystery of a world we can never fully grasp.
