This anonymous satirical print from 1785-1786, titled *Spotprent op de vrede tussen Nederland en de keizer*, depicts the signing of the Treaty of Fontainebleau. The treaty, which ended the Fourth Anglo-Dutch War, is portrayed as a humorous exchange between a French and a Prussian officer at a toll booth. The image depicts the satirical view of the Dutch, as they were considered to be easily manipulated and controlled by the great powers. The scene is set against a backdrop of a Dutch village, where two horses are being led into a stable by a man in uniform. This etching, which measures 215 mm high and 345 mm wide, is part of the Rijksmuseum collection.
