This installation is by Danh Vō, and it seems to be made from found objects and cardboard, dangling in space. It feels like a meditation on symbols and their potential emptiness. Look at the way the cardboard is pieced together, almost like a child’s construction, yet it bears the weight of these iconic American flags. And then there are the tools, suspended like relics or instruments of some forgotten ritual. The contrast between the raw, humble materials and the loaded imagery is striking. It's neither precious or particularly skilful in its execution, yet this feels intentional, highlighting the artmaking process itself – a kind of deconstruction or repurposing of meaning. I see echoes of Kurt Schwitters here, the way Vō pulls apart and reassembles the fragments of culture to create something new, something unresolved. It's art as conversation, a constant questioning.
