Editor: So, here we have Andrzej Nowacki's "21.09.07," created in 2007. I'm immediately struck by its almost dizzying effect. All those vertical lines…it feels like looking into some kind of visual code. What do you make of it? Curator: Ah, yes, it's one of those pieces that plays with your perception, isn't it? I like how the artist uses simple vertical lines and the interplay of colours – reds subtly bleeding into blues – to create this illusion of depth and movement. For me, it whispers of something like…urban rhythms, or perhaps the blurred lights of a city at night. It's hard-edged, but not without a certain dreamy quality. Do you get that too, that sense of motion? Editor: I do now that you mention it! It did initially strike me as very static, almost mathematical. But you're right, the colors do soften the harshness. Was Nowacki part of a particular movement? Curator: Definitely! He’s strongly linked to Op Art, and you can see echoes of Colour Field painting as well. The Op Art element is the obvious optical illusion, but there's a definite focus on colour relationships, like with the Colour Field painters. What emotions do the colors evoke in you, especially with that shift from red to blue? Editor: The red feels warmer, more active, while the blue seems…cooler, calmer, like receding into the distance. They play off each other well. I see the city vibe you mentioned! Curator: Precisely! And I love how such a deceptively simple piece can spark so many thoughts. Editor: Absolutely! I think I'll look at all stripe paintings differently now!
