Hryhorii Havrylenko made this “Composition” with what looks like gouache or watercolor, and it's all about how simple shapes can create a dynamic visual experience. He’s using a limited palette, but the way he overlaps these rectangles… it’s not just about color, it's about the process of building layers, almost like memories piling up. Look closely, and you'll see how each rectangle isn’t perfect; some are more transparent than others, and it’s this imperfection that makes it so alive! The gray rectangles in the top left, they almost seem to be receding, dissolving into the ground. Then, the blues and reds feel like they are coming forward. This piece reminds me of early Mondrian, but if Mondrian let loose a little! It’s like Havrylenko is inviting us to see the world as a series of possibilities, where color and form are always in flux, always becoming.
