Camilla d'Errico made this, I'm guessing in the twenty-first century, Sunny Side Up, with what looks like colored pencils or maybe thin paint. The surface is super smooth and precise, not thick at all. You can almost feel the waxy texture of the colors. D'Errico really takes her time, layering the colors in a way that feels almost meditative. Look at the background: it’s like she’s creating a whole world with each little stroke. I love how the rainbow spills out of the egg yolk. It reminds me of the kind of surprising color combinations you see in Lisa Frank’s work, but with a softer, more surreal vibe. This kind of image-making reminds me that art doesn’t always have to shout to be heard. Sometimes, it's the quiet, meticulous gestures that speak the loudest.
