"Opwachting bij schip door lokale bevolking" ("Waiting for the ship by the local population") is a pen and wash drawing by Jan Goeree, a Dutch artist who specialized in maritime scenes, that was created between 1680 and 1731. The drawing depicts a large ship anchored in a bay, with many smaller boats surrounding it. People are seen on the shore and in the boats, suggesting that the locals are waiting for the ship to arrive. This artwork gives a glimpse into Dutch maritime activity in the 17th and 18th centuries and is a valuable example of Goeree's work. The drawing is currently held by the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
