"Gevoel" (1620-1638), an etching by Dutch artist Jan Both (1618-1652), portrays a lively street scene. The composition is crowded with figures, creating a sense of immediacy and intimacy. The central figure, a man with his mouth agape, is being treated by a tooth puller, while others watch with varying degrees of concern. The etching is a fine example of Both's skillful use of line and detail, capturing the gritty realism of everyday life in 17th-century Holland. The inscription below the scene, written in Dutch, adds a humorous and satirical element to the work. The etching is currently housed in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
