This intricately carved buffetkast, meaning "buffet cabinet" in Dutch, was created around 1905 by Theo Nieuwenhuis, a prominent Dutch designer known for his Art Nouveau style. The piece is a testament to the artistry of the period, showcasing detailed wood carvings of grapevines and clusters, inlaid with ivory and complemented by a marble countertop. This cabinet, currently housed in the Rijksmuseum, is a fine example of the craftsmanship and ornamental flourishes that characterized Dutch Art Nouveau design.
