This engraving, “Advertentie voor prentmaker Jacobus Robijn,” was created by the Dutch artist Jacobus Robijn around the 17th century. The piece is a self-portrait of sorts, functioning as an advertisement for Robijn’s printmaking business. The inscription reads “J. A. ROBYN, Haute Konst-Plaatsnyder, Woond in de Tuin-Straat, tusschen de Prins-Gragt en Eerste Dwaarstraat. Tot AMSTERDAM.” The image features two putti holding a wreath above the inscription, framed by trees on both sides. This is a typical example of 17th-century Dutch printmaking. The use of linework, details, and the overall sense of realism are characteristics of the period. This piece, now in the collection of the Rijksmuseum, serves as a glimpse into the artistic life of the period.
