This is a sepia-toned photograph of the Château de Châteaugay, made by Delizy, and it's funny, because it’s so brown, it’s almost like a painting. I love how the light and shadow play here; it's like the scene itself is being developed right before our eyes. The surface has these beautiful imperfections that are part of what makes photography so interesting. When you look closely at the towers, you can almost feel the rough texture of the stone. It's also the way the bushes and trees seem to blend into one another, creating this sort of dreamy effect. It reminds me a bit of Corot, who was all about capturing the feeling of a place. There's a quietness in this image, a sense of timelessness. It feels like a memory, faded but still vivid. Art isn’t about perfection, it’s about feeling. And this photograph definitely has that.
