This is Robert Frank’s photo contact sheet, “Family--Switzerland RF 25," and in it you can see a whole roll of film developed, unedited, and presented as a complete thought. It's like seeing an artist's sketchbook—a way of thinking through images. The surface is all these little frames of black and white. It's almost like looking through a set of windows into different moments of a family's life. There's one frame where someone's lying in bed, another where a couple is sitting together. These little glimpses are like visual notes, capturing something fleeting and real. It makes me think about the act of observing, framing, and how much we leave out when we try to capture a moment. Frank reminds me of Walker Evans, with his interest in everyday subjects, but there’s a raw, off-the-cuff quality to Frank's approach that feels very contemporary. It's a meditation on time, memory, and the fragmented nature of experience.
