This 16th-century print by Jacques Androuet du Cerceau, titled "Copies after the 'Livre contenant passement de moresques' (plate 18)," displays three intricate, interwoven floral motifs in black ink. It was originally part of a book showcasing designs for decorative passementerie, the art of creating trim and embellishments for textiles and furniture. These designs, inspired by the decorative arts of the Islamic world, represent the fascination of the Renaissance with foreign cultural influences. The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York currently houses this piece.
