Salvador Dali conjured this scene, maybe using oils, maybe something else… The light is playing tricks, casting shadows that dance and morph across the wall. I can almost feel Dali’s hand, pushing and pulling at the paint, coaxing this strange vision into being. It's like he's not just painting what he sees, but what he imagines, what lurks beneath the surface of reality. There's a dreamlike quality here, a sense of unease and wonder all at once. And Voltaire! Emerging from the shadows, a ghost in the machine. What's he doing there, hanging out with grapes and pottery? Maybe Dali saw him as a kindred spirit, a fellow provocateur, someone who dared to question everything. It’s like they are having a conversation across time. The way Dali painted this, he lets go of control and embraces chance, allowing the unexpected to emerge. And maybe that's what art is all about: not knowing where you're going, but trusting that you'll get somewhere interesting in the end.
