Oleksandr Aksinin made this Exlibris in 1977, and it's an etching, so it's all about the lines, the way they dig into the metal. It's like he's building a whole world with tiny scratches. Look at the brickwork – the obsessive detail of each little rectangle is amazing. Then, the dark aquatint creates such a sense of depth, like a dense fog or dreamscape. The whole composition feels like a stage set, complete with curtains or pillars. And then there's that figure, huddled in the corner. Are they trapped, hiding, or just observing? It reminds me a little of Klee, the way he creates these enigmatic spaces with simple means. Art isn't about answers, it's about making us ask the questions. Aksinin does this so well, inviting us to lose ourselves in the details.
