This photograph, probably taken in Brittany by Delizy, captures children on haystacks, and there's a softness to it, a sepia dreaminess that feels like memory itself. The way the light falls, almost uniformly, suggests a process of patient development, the image slowly emerging, like a feeling taking shape. The texture is everything here, the haystacks themselves – dense, tactile, almost begging to be touched. Look closely, and you’ll see the subtle gradations, the way the light catches the surface, creating an almost sculptural form. It reminds me of those early Corot landscapes, a similar kind of atmospheric density, a feeling for the weight and presence of things. Like Corot, Delizy seems less interested in capturing a specific scene than in evoking a mood, a sense of time standing still. It's this openness, this willingness to embrace ambiguity, that makes the image so compelling.
