"Tomoe Gozen, Wife of Kiso Yoshinaka, Defeating Uchida Saburō" is a woodblock print by Tsukioka Yoshitoshi, one of the most celebrated artists of the late Edo period in Japan. Created in 1865, this print depicts the legendary female warrior Tomoe Gozen, famously known for her courage and skill in battle. The image portrays her in a dynamic pose, her sword raised high as she strikes down her enemy, Uchida Saburō. Yoshitoshi's depiction of the scene is full of action and drama, showcasing his masterful use of line and color. This work is a fine example of the "One Hundred Ghost Stories" series, a collection of prints that were popular during the Meiji era.
