This pneumatique carte, made by Henrietta Buhot, is a folded form, a message in transit. Buhot's hand dances across the surface in blue ink, a flurry of personal intention against the bureaucratic grid of the pre-printed form. I love how the act of writing transforms the card, each stroke carrying the weight of meaning and emotion. Look at the address, the carefully lettered "Hotel St Georges," almost disappearing beneath the sweeping curves of the postal markings. The stamp, a tiny burst of color, anchors the composition, its formal design a counterpoint to the fluid script. It reminds me of Twombly, how he made legible scribbles. Buhot allows the process of communication to become the art itself. Like Sophie Calle, Buhot makes narrative from the everyday. It's a humble gesture, a quick message sent across town. But in its very transience, it captures a moment in time, a fleeting connection between people.
