Robert Conover made this print, sometime during his life from 1920 to 1998. It's called landscape, though I don't know if that's what I'd call it. The way the blue and yellow break up the black is cool. It's a flat and graphic piece, but there are a lot of textures that bring it to life. Look at the top left, the way the black ink isn't solid, it's almost crumbly. It's a small detail, but those little inconsistencies are what make the piece. It's the same down below in the lower third of the print, where you can see the grain of the wood coming through. Maybe these are the 'trees' he was trying to depict? This feels like a bridge between the German Expressionists and someone like Alex Katz, that's a conversation I'd like to listen in on! There's a lot of ambiguity in this piece, and that's what makes it so interesting.
