'Obojena tisina', or 'Painted Silence', by Dragan Ilić Di Vogo, is an otherworldly figurative painting. Look at how the colour bleeds and blends across the background, a real sense of artmaking as a process of continual adjustment. There's so much here, from the colour palette to the textured surface, that makes this piece sing. The muted oranges and reds, contrasted with flecks of vibrant blues and greens, evoke a dreamlike atmosphere. The paint application is varied; see the smooth blending of skin tones against the more textured, almost sculptural, elements in the figure's headdress. Look closely at the trail of blue, yellow and red down her back. It's as if the artist is playing with the idea of the body as a canvas, adorned with the marks of creation.
