Vasile Kazar made this artwork, Window Towards Insomnia (5), with what looks like ink on paper. The network of lines feels like a restless mind trying to find sleep. It's like Kazar is mapping a landscape of thoughts, each stroke building on the last. Look at how the lines bunch together in certain areas, creating shadows and depth. Then, elsewhere, they are sparse and light, giving the impression of something about to disappear. This way of working, where the process is so visible, is like a diary entry. It is a record of thinking, of feeling, of being in the world. I'm reminded of Cy Twombly's scribbled drawings, but with a darker, more internal feel. These artists embrace the messy, imperfect aspects of artmaking, reminding us that art doesn’t have to be polished to be meaningful.
