Dado made this painting, Buffon, with gentle sweeps and soft marks in blues, pinks, and browns. I imagine him in the act of painting: he starts, then pauses, maybe he’s unsure, but then he continues, pushing and pulling the paint. I wonder if he felt like he was wrestling with something, trying to capture a feeling or an idea that was just out of reach. This color palette is unusual, so muted and pastel-like, but with all these expressive, energetic lines, it makes me think of Cy Twombly. Look at the lower part of the work – it seems like these scrawled marks have a certain intention behind them, an attempt to make sense of the chaos. It's like he’s thinking about what painting can do and how it can capture a moment or a feeling. We’re all in conversation with each other, right? And it’s through that exchange of ideas that we can find new ways of seeing and thinking about the world.
