This "Horse Weather Vane" was made by an anonymous artist. I love how the artist has captured a fleeting moment, a horse in full gallop, suspended in time. The muted palette of aged metal, with hints of verdigris, speaks to the object’s history and exposure to the elements. The texture is incredible, isn’t it? You can almost feel the cool smoothness of the metal, pitted and weathered by years of sun, rain, and wind. Notice the subtle variations in color across the horse’s body, from the darker shadows along its belly to the brighter highlights on its back. It's as if the artist is inviting us to imagine the horse galloping through an open field, its mane and tail flowing in the breeze. Look at the way the artist has rendered the horse’s tail, a series of delicate, overlapping planes that create a sense of movement and depth. It reminds me a little of the Futurist aesthetic. This piece really underscores how art can transform everyday objects into something truly special and transcendent. It feels connected to work by artists such as Boccioni.
