Editor: Roy De Maistre’s "Interior with Lamp" is quite a scene! The composition feels so intimate, almost claustrophobic. How do you interpret the mood and the arrangement of objects? Curator: It's like stepping into a dream, isn't it? The ordinary – a lamp, a plant – bathed in a light that's anything but. Notice how the colors vibrate, fighting for attention. De Maistre isn’t just painting a room; he's painting a feeling, a memory. What do those objects whisper to you? Editor: A quiet, perhaps melancholic domesticity? It also feels like a puzzle I can't quite solve. Curator: Precisely! It's the mystery, the unresolved chord that makes it sing. I find myself wondering what's beyond that window, and perhaps more importantly, what's in the artist's heart. Editor: It's fascinating how a simple interior can hold so much emotional depth. I'll never look at a still life the same way.
