Aleksandra Ekster probably used oil on canvas to create "Color Dynamics", and what a dance of color and form it is! I imagine Ekster approaching the canvas with a sense of adventure, each brushstroke a step into the unknown. The geometric shapes interlock like puzzle pieces, creating a dynamic tension between order and chaos. There’s a lot of red, white, and blue, but it’s like she’s taken those primary colors and put them through a prism, bending and refracting them into a whole spectrum of possibilities. The paint is applied with a loose, energetic hand. Look at that bold red stroke slashing across the center—it feels like a declaration, a burst of pure feeling. And those circles at the bottom, echoing with color, are they wheels turning, planets aligning? Thinking about this painting, it makes me think about how artists like Ekster are in conversation with each other, borrowing and building on ideas, and pushing the boundaries of what painting can be. It’s all about taking risks and embracing the unexpected.
