Editor: Here we have Julian Trevelyan’s print titled, Islam. It’s whimsical and almost cartoonish. What do you make of Trevelyan's visual choices? Curator: Well, it's an interesting dance between reality and imagination, isn't it? The fantastical figures seem to float within a space that hints at recognizable Islamic architectural elements, yet is clearly a construct. It feels to me like a remembered dream, slightly skewed. Does it feel that way to you, too? Editor: Yes, exactly. It's like a distorted memory, very personal, but hinting at something grander. Curator: Perhaps Trevelyan aimed to capture the essence of a culture through the filter of his own experience, rather than offering a literal depiction. It's about feeling, not just seeing, wouldn't you agree?
